Fluidized-Bed CVD Coating Line Scale-Up Delivery, Silicon-Carbon Anode Client
New Energy Materials
Background
After completing fluidized-bed CVD (FBCVD) pilot validation for silicon-carbon anodes, a lithium-battery anode producer planned to scale up to mass production. Key requirements: keep coating uniformity and batch consistency, raise per-batch throughput, maintain uniform reaction temperature and meet safety and environmental requirements for silane-based process.
Specifications
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Per-batch throughput | 4x of pilot scale |
| Reaction type | Fluidized-bed chemical vapor deposition (CVD) |
| Reaction temperature | 600-900 C |
| Fluidization gas | High-purity inert gas + silane/carbon source |
| Vessel material | Stainless steel + high-temperature lining |
| Temperature control | Zone control + online monitoring |
| Emission control | Off-gas scrubbing + dedusting + safety interlock |
Solution
Delivered a mass-production fluidized-bed CVD reactor (stainless steel body, zone heating bands, conical distributor) with gas distribution, temperature control and off-gas treatment. Optimized distributor structure and gas flow ensure uniform fluidization; zone temperature control keeps reaction temperature stable; silane/carbon source is dosed on program for even particle coating. Safety interlocks and off-gas scrubbing meet silane-process safety and environmental requirements.
Milestones: scale-up design (month 1), fabrication (months 2-3), installation and leak test (month 4), fluidization and temperature commissioning (month 5), integrated trial run and acceptance (month 6).
Results
| Indicator | Target | Actual |
|---|---|---|
| Per-batch throughput | 4x pilot | Achieved |
| Coating uniformity | Batch consistent | Stable |
| First-cycle efficiency | Per client spec | Met |
| Cycling stability | Per client spec | Met |
| Integrated trial run | Passed first time | Passed |
Customer feedback: coating uniformity and batch consistency maintained after scale-up; safety and environmental systems meet silane-process requirements, laying a foundation for further expansion.
